24-053 Lightning is an adorable 1-1⁄2-year-old Golden mix. He had been found as a stray but the finder, after doing due diligence, was unable to locate the owner and unable to keep the dog himself. During the three weeks he kept the dog, the finder even went above and beyond: he got the dog vaccinated and microchipped. AGR just had to do the heartworm and valley fever tests (fortunately both negative). An adoptive couple who live in Sierra Vista and have adopted from AGR in the past, saw Lightning on our  website and expressed an interest in meeting him. Her mother lives locally, so they made arrangements to visit her and the dog. They liked him very much and had a proven adoption record with us, so we allowed them to take him home. Everything has worked out well. Lightning, whose name was changed to Luke, was neutered after he’d settled in with his new family. The adopter reported: 

We love him! He's a nice size. He gets along well with our senior dog. We also have a cat, which Luke tries to herd – makes us both laugh! He is good with the pet door. When Pete leaves, Luke will lie by the door until he comes back. We have paid for five private lessons to help with leash training and will let AGR know how it goes.
