Volunteering with Arizona Golden Rescue is a great way to meet new people and make a difference! AGR’s success is largely due to the heart and soul of our volunteers. We have many volunteer opportunities available. Below are a few ways you can help:
Foster homes are critical to our organization in the care and nurturing of newly rescued Goldens and Golden mixes. We need fosters who are willing to open their hearts and homes to offer loving support to these wonderful dogs while waiting for that new special family to call their own. Please visit the FOSTER PROCESS from the menu for more information.
Volunteers are needed to represent AGR at various events to share our mission, communicate with the public, and possibly help with merchandise sales. We are always in need of individuals to help transport, set-up, and pack-up such events. Check our website EVENTS page for more information on our events throughout the year.
Volunteers are needed to arrange veterinary care for all AGR dogs, both routine care and treatment of illness and injuries, and then release them for adoption. Requires database work with entry of notes and reminder dates, also good organizational skills and communication skills.
Volunteers are needed to conduct on-site home visits for prospective adoptive families to ensure safety and soundness for an AGR dog’s placement. You will use an outline template to ask questions and record answers, make observations and a recommendation, then use our database to type in the answers to the online form.
Detail-oriented volunteers are needed to handle the communications with potential surrendering owners for new intake dogs, screening those contacts for dogs that meet our criteria, then building the dog record in the database along with a dog profile.
Join our Membership team, which is responsible for coordinating all new and renewal AGR memberships. This generally involves data entry into our database, also usage of Word and Excel doing a “mail merge” to produce letters for renewals, and follow-up emails or phone contacts to former members that have not responded.
We can always use volunteers to help identify potential adoptive families for our new intake dogs, matching the dog’s characteristics with the best possible approved family, entering notes in the database on all contacts, generating emails and text messages, and requesting transports. Good communication skills are needed, along with familiarity with Excel usage, and comfort in doing data entry into our database.
AGR is always in need of individuals to contact businesses to ask for gift cards, items for our raffles and silent auctions. This can be a time-consuming effort with repeated visits or phone calls, but the reward is in acquiring items for our fundraisers which help to offset AGR's veterinary expenses.
Do you love to drive? Volunteers are needed to transport dogs all over the Valley (and sometimes to outlying areas) from surrendering owners or shelters, to veterinarians or foster homes, also to potential adopters, and to and from vet visits. A larger vehicle that can accommodate a crate (such as an SUV, minivan, or wagon) is helpful, along with a comfort in handling potentially unknown dogs.
We need volunteers with descriptive writing skills to manage writing our “Magic Moments” stories about the adopted dogs for our Golden Paw newsletter. We would love to have YOUR help in any of the areas listed above, and we'd love to know if you have other special talents that you'd like to share with us! Without the support and generosity of our members and volunteers AGR simply could not do what we do! If you have a passion for Golden Retrievers and some extra time on your hands, we want to hear from you. The reward of seeing a rescued dog in their “fur-ever” home are truly heartwarming! You can respond to our general email info@arizonagoldenrescue.org or inquire about volunteer activities by clicking here on the CONTACT US page for additional information . As always, thank you for your support! Due to insurance and liability issues, all volunteers must be current AGR members. To start your membership, please visit our MEMBERSHIP page . |
