Brinkley is a cute 1-year-old girl that sadly had to be returned to us after being adopted last year as a puppy. Unfortunately, it was determined that she needed double hip surgeries which the new owners could not afford. But, fortunately for Brinkley, we were able to place her with an adoptive couple. They are willing to give this sweet girl a wonderful forever home and lots of TLC as she goes through her surgeries. They wrote to us:
We have been a Golden Retriever family for nearly forty years. Our children grew up with them, and now have Goldens in their own homes. We’ve always had two: one older and one younger (Golden, that is). Last fall our beloved Sandy died at age 14, leaving her 11-year-old companion, “Prairie Dog”, bereft and confused about what became of her. However, it must be confessed that she gradually began to appreciate being the Queen herself. We knew this was not good and that she needed a younger companion as we’ve always done. We contacted Arizona Golden Rescue, thinking we’d like an older dog, maybe 6-9. But before long they identified one-year-old Brinkley as a possibility. In some respects because as an older couple with experience, no pool, and only grandchildren who understand Goldens, we could handle older puppy behavior and one who has serious dysplasia, requiring two major surgeries this year. It was love at first sight. Brinkley has wriggled her way into everyone’s heart. She had her first hip surgery two weeks ago and is having a very fast recovery. Prairie Dog thinks she invented Brinkley and they play gently together. Much gratitude to the wonderful folks at AGR!
