12-113 Todd (left) and 12-114 Trisha are 9- and 7-year-old housemates who found themselves in need of a new house, as their previous owner had developed allergies and was not able to interact with them as much as he felt was appropriate. He requested the pair be kept together, as they are very bonded to each other. Fortunately, we were able to keep them together and arranged an excellent placement for this pair. They are now sharing their love with an adoptive couple. Both dogs need to slim down some, so their new parents are utilizing exercise and the green bean diet. Todd and Trisha, both with AKC papers, will be stunners once they have reached their ideal weights. They have made themselves at home with their new family including their parents, Golden brother Max, and seven cats. The adopters say they have brought new life into their home and couldn’t be happier with the additions to their family. Mom writes: My husband and I are both visually impaired. We each had Golden Retriever guide dogs. My dog Max is 12 and his dog Astro was 8. On 9/10/2012 Astro went to the Rainbow Bridge. The vet said he probably had a heart attack. After that, our entire household was out of sorts. We all missed Astro very much. Max missed him more than any of us. The dogs had worked together for 6 years, and service dogs have a very special bond with each other. Max became very depressed. Not only had Max lost his friend, he also lost his job – I needed to retire him due to his hearing loss. Bill went on to Petfinder.com in search of a dog. We came upon your wonderful Rescue group and I filled out the adoption form. We spent a couple of days looking through pictures of different dogs. Bill and I had talked about one versus a pair. We decided that one was just fine. Then we came to Todd and Trisha. Bill and I fell in love with them. They seemed to be calling us from cyberspace. The big brown eyes and the sweet smiles captured our hearts. Toddles and Trishiboo have been with us since November 5th, 2012 and were at home as soon as they came through the door. Max is back to his old self and loves his new brother and sister. We have all been getting a lot of exercise running around the backyard chasing balls and toys. I work from home and am able to spend lots of time with all the dogs. Toddles and Trishiboo are fun-loving, affectionate and very willing to please. They already have a very strong bond with Bill and me. They follow both of us around the house and want to put their noses in everything we do, and that’s just great. We feel like they have been with us for years. We are doing the green bean diet and it is working great – both dogs are slimming down. We are working on some basic obedience and walking on leashes. Along with our 3 Goldens, we have 7 cats. Toddles and Trishiboo get along great with all of them. In fact I am not sure what they did in their past, but they are really good at herding cats. One of our cats got out and they literally tag-teamed and ran him back in the house. Having Toddles and Trishiboo in our lives has helped our family heal and move on. They are curious, loveable, playful, and just as sweet as they can be. We are excited to share our first Christmas together. No dogs are going to be more spoiled this year than they are. We look forward to getting to know and loving them for many years. Bill and I want to thank you for allowing us to bring them into our family. I know we have saved their lives, but they have saved ours, too. More about ToddGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults
