23-031 Ivy , was a small, 11-month-old Goldendoodle when she was surrendered to  AGR  on May 24, 2023 . The owner was going to medical school and did not have time for this little girl (or any of the several other dogs and puppies that were at the house). We were told  Ivy  was in heat at the time, but the resident 1-and-1⁄2-year old male Doodle must have mated with her before we got her, because she looked like she might be pregnant. She had 6 puppies on July 5 th .  Ivy  and the puppies were fostered by an adoptive couple in Wittmann. By the time the puppies were weaned at about 5 weeks, the family had adopted  Ivy  and had also decided to keep one of the puppies ( 23-047 Hank , now called  Jim ), as was their right to do  as fosters .  Ivy  was a good mommy, but to ensure she wouldn’t ever have more puppies, we had her spayed in early September. She is doing well now – plays and plays with the puppy and basically ignores the resident pigs, goat and other dogs in the household.
