Hunny is a beautiful, energetic, 3-year-old red female Golden whose owners were overwhelmed with working long hours and an 8-month-old baby. Hunny was neither spayed nor up to date on her vaccinations. At one of our veterinary partners, we had all the standard tests done as well as vaccines, and she has been given Cytopoint injections for allergies. When her spay was begun, Hunny had a bad reaction to the sedative, so they stopped the procedure. We transferred her to Animal Medical & Surgical Center where the spay was completed successfully, although she had a localized reaction to the stitches in her incision. She was placed with her adopters. Since Hunny’s high energy was a concern, AGR’s behaviorist was called in for a house visit. The behaviorist reported: The adopter said Hunny has made a lot of progress in just about two weeks, and Joey fell in love with Hunny very quickly. They see her potential and I can see how responsive Hunny is with both of them. She works with autistic children, so as I was explaining certain ways to be with dogs or how to interact, she was really getting it and never thought about applying the way she deals with some children, the same way with dogs, a lot less emotion and more matter of fact. They feel very encouraged and love Hunny. Further professional help with training could benefit all of them.
