Rosey is a dear, three-year-old Golden girl who was bitten and generally beaten up badly by another dog. Her owners took her to their vet but decided to have her euthanized because they felt she was not treatable. The vet recommended to the family that they relinquish her to AGR, so she came to us. She did, indeed, have a myriad of physical problems that needed attention, including some bad allergies. Fortunately for Rosey, one of our long-time volunteers (and a member of our Health Care Team), fell madly in love with her and decided to foster (and then adopt) her right off the bat. After four months of dealing with medical issue after medical issue, we were finally able to finalize the adoption! She wrote an update for us after Rosey first came to live with her and her husband: As I write this, we are enjoying our Sunday morning coffee in the great room and our entire pack, Rosey included, is asleep in various areas of the great room. Rosey and the dogs are gradually getting to know each other, and we are beginning our journey of learning “all things Rosey”. She gave Goldie kisses this morning and Goldie was really great with that, and Rosey already has the cat rubbing up against her for attention! We have discovered that she is a huge grabber, so Jeff is working on getting that fixed. She has had a funny quirk of not wanting to go out through the slider to get to the backyard – she will stand by the open door just staring. However, as soon as I put the leash on her, out she goes. So either she had to be leashed before they let her out, or she was on a short leash by the door. We are working on that, too, and she is already getting better at it. All in all, she is a smart girl who will learn easily, and I think she will fit right in just fine! Fast forward a few months later... Rosey’s health issues are 100% better, her manners have improved substantially (she still loves to try and steal the occasional food item off the counter, but she is learning) and she “owns our home”. Everyone loves her and she loves us all in return! More about RoseyGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults
