Becker has been an excellent companion for both me and my father. I grew up with Goldens, we always had a least one in the family at all times. When my Hunter had to be unexpectedly put down due to severe cancer at the young age of 6, it was devastating to us and our household became quite solemn. Becker has added that new life back into the household and some, his puppiness has been an added bonus. Here's a funny story. Becker likes to chew up the pine cones that fall off my tree in the back yard. Occasionally he brings them in the house at which point we take them away from him. He's allowed to chew them up outside, not in the house. Anyways, we were watching a ballgame one evening and Becker had brought in a few pine cones in a roll, and at a pretty quick pace. Well, after about 7-8 of these things, I knew that there shouldn't have been this many laying in the yard. So I quietly watched him as he went out to gather another one up to bring inside. Ends up my dad was collecting the cones and had a 5 gallon bucket stocked to the top. I watched as he went out straight over to the bucket, stuck his head inside, came out with another pine cone and hurriedly came back inside. He had cleared that bucket of 2/3 of the pine cones that were in it. He has been a wonderful hiking partner for me also. I was a little concerned on how he would react once we ran into his first critter on the trail. Well, the first critter we came across was a cow elk literally only 50 feet from us. He looked at her, then me, her, me, then he came over to me and got behind me and stayed right there. I think he was intimidated by it's size. Naturally he loves water. Honestly, I'm not sure if he had ever swam before I got him. He didn't know what to do when he discovered water that was deeper than he is tall. He eventually pushed off towards deeper water and did a small loop and came back to the safety of the shore, but went right back out and has been hooked ever since. I know he's never seen snow before. When we came across our first snow he didn't know what to think of it. He smelled it for the longest time, then poked at it with his paw, which eventually led to him rolling in it.
