24-064 Arthur is a 19-month-old neutered purebred Golden. The Soldier’s Best Friend organization got him out of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control to train as a service dog for a veteran. They surrendered the dog to AGR because he is not focused enough to be a service dog. He is not treat/food or toy motivated, so it would be hard for a veteran who has never trained a dog to work with him. He is also obsessed with shadows – he will focus on a shadow and nothing else. He was already fully vaccinated but was taken to one of our partner veterinarians to be treated for an ear infection and a wound on one side of his face. He was fostered for a short time by one of our foster moms in Phoenix before being placed with an adoptive couple. At the foster’s, he spotted a reflection on the wall and spent a frenzied 10 minutes trying to find it until he finally settled down. His new permanent family changed his name to Brady. He is a gorgeous, friendly boy who loves to shake hands. The adopter related the story about the new name: 

Years ago I adopted a dog named Darby from AGR. Darby recently passed away. We decided to take the center letters of Darby’s name and use them to create Brady’s name. We are giving him private lessons to walk on the leash better. He loves any and all people and wants to jump on them. We are taking Brady on a big adventure next week. He will be going on a non-commercial plane to Denver, CO to visit my wife's brother who has a 9-week-old Golden. This will be an exciting trip for Brady, not only to meet a puppy Golden, but also to experience snow for the first time. 

Brady is very lucky to have both his parents home all day since they work from home. He has a nice set-up with a big dog door that leads to a nice run. They love him very much and keep him active and engaged.
