22-051 Lars is an 8-month-old neutered English Cream Golden who was surrendered because the older resident dog was being aggressive towards Lars . The owner recently got married and her husband already had the aggressive dog that was found on the reservation. Lars gets along with all dogs, cats and kids. He goes to doggy daycare and loves it. He is described as calm for an 8-month-old puppy. He originally came from a breeder in North Carolina that breeds her dogs to be therapy dogs. The owner described Lars as very intelligent and a quick learner. When we transported him to an adoptive couple in Chandler, it amounted to going from the frying pan into the fire at first, as the resident dog, Lucky , made it known quickly that he did not like the new kid on the block. Lucky finally settled down after about a half hour. Lars needed all his vaccines updated and tests for valley fever and heartworm. He also had an issue with one of his eyes, as well as an ear infection. He was treated for both. The adopter recently told us: We are very grateful that we had the opportunity to adopt Lars . He has been a wonderful addition to our family. After a few days of getting to know him, we decided to rename him Ollie . We thought that name Ollie matched his big gest personality trait, which is, undoubtedly, being goofy. It took Ollie and our other dog, Lucky , a few days to feel each other out, but they have been inseparable ever since. Ollie and Lucky play for hours and hours and hours every day with occasional short naps in between. Ollie loves to play tug-of-war, to fetch a ball, and to steal whatever toy Lucky is currently playing with. Ollie is a very sweet, loving dog, who has no idea how big he is, and he thinks he is a lap dog. He loves to be close (very, very close) to his family, and he especially loves belly rubs. When he’s not playing, Ollie likes to watch soccer and golf on TV. He likes to bring in large rocks from the backyard. We are forever grateful to Arizona Golden Rescue for giving us the opportunity to adopt him. Ollie has added a lot of smiles and joy to our family. In addition to smiles and joy, Ollie brought with him some undesirable puppy behaviors, so we referred the family to behaviorist Sharon McKenzie, who will help them work through and, hopefully, eliminate these behaviors .
