In early July, AGR was contacted by a local breeder of Goldendoodles . Her poodle had recently had a litter of 10 (after having a previous litter of 10 last year) . The breeder had been able to sell only three of the puppies and wanted to surrender the other seven to us figuring that we would have a better chance of finding new homes for these 9-week-old puppies. We were not able to place any right away, so the AGR Health Care Manager offered to foster the four boys and an AGR foster couple in Phoenix took the three girls. Each identified adoptive family made an appointment to visit the puppies with either foster, depending on whether they wanted a male or a female, respectively. So all had met their puppy before he or she was actually delivered. All the puppies are really nice, appear to be quite smart and are growing well. All needed a complete series of DHPP vaccines and deworming. All will need to be sterilized when they reach a year of age. They have all now been finalized with an addendum for the spay or neuter. 22-048 Ruby was chosen by an adoptive family with two children in Gilbert . When the AGR transporters arrived with the puppy, they introduced her to the resident dog Leeloo in the front courtyard . Leeloo wasn't very welcoming to the puppy – kept warning her off when Ruby tried to play. The resident cat did not show its face while we were there, but is reportedly now getting along well with the puppy. A few days after the puppy's arrival, the adopter wrote: We are all enjoying getting to know our newest family member! We decided to rename her Summer . Watching her interact with our cat Rocket was fun! I have no doubts they will be friends. I can’t wait to see if Summer can get Rocket to play with her. Summer and Leeloo are s till finding their groove but Summer is amazing! She shows sub mission right away if Leeloo gives her a reminder. At one point, Summer had a broken tooth, but the vet just gave her some antibiotics and said the permanent tooth would push out the broken baby tooth. Summer also had a reaction to the vaccines, so the vet gave them one at a time with some days in between.
