22-038 Whiskey was 8 weeks old when the owner, who’d had the puppy only a week, surrendered her to AGR. She stated that she has some mental health issues and didn’t realize she wasn’t ready for a puppy . An adopter, who had been on our waiting list for a while, was definitely ready for a puppy and her 2-year-old Golden, Stella , was ready for a playmate! Because she was such a young puppy, Whiskey needed all vaccines. Once she had the whole series, we fi nalized her adoption with an addendum for the spay when she is a year old. The adopter renamed the puppy Pennie , as she is the color of the coin . The adopter said: We love our golden, Stella , and she loves us too. But we often thought she would also love to have a sister. We had no idea that a text from AGR on an early Sunday morning would result in welcoming the most amazing sur prise to all of our lives. At eight weeks old, Pennie came bursting through the front door with full paws flailing and introducing hers elf as if she were coming home. At first, we thought she and Stella were twins. But as time went on, we realized Pennie was definitely one of a kind. From the beginning, there was no question that this was her house, as she began using the doggy door, ruling t he yard, and learned where the steps were to begin her swimming lessons in the pool. We realized her purpose was to bring joy, happiness, fun, and crazi- ness to our world. Especially when she looks at you and is curious about what you have to say, and if she needs to help or be included. Also, she can’t yawn or stretch without making a sound that resembles what we call a “Pennieasaurus.” What we may have thought of as an apprehensive or indecisive decision, became an undeniable, perfect, and unmeasurable blessing that is Pennie . We love happy endings!
