22-004 Riley is a very pretty Red Golden girl. She is 3 years old, spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She tends to be on the anxious side and cautious when first meeting people and or other dogs, but quickly warms up. She prefers a quiet environment; the owner thought she would make a great companion dog for an older couple. She is being surrendered by her owner because of a change in living situation (more people coming in and out). In addition, the owner will be starting an intense nursing program and unable to give her the attention she needs and desires. Riley loves squeaky toys and playing ball. She has had an incident with excessive itching and scratching, for which we suggested trying Benadryl. In fact, we gave the adopters our entire list of over-the-counter drugs that are OK to use with dogs. The Benadryl worked and there has not been another incident, so Riley was finalized without an addendum for an allergy work-up. She now has her forever home with an adoptive couple in Gilbert. They thanked us for the OTC drug chart and said:
