Loki is a charming 1-year-old Golden boy. Loki was full of puppy energy, and his owner worked long hours and did not have the time to train him. He received his vetting and got a glowing health report including negative fecal, heartworm and valley fever tests. He was neutered before intake and was current on recommended vaccinations. Loki found his forever home with an adoptive family who were very excited to have a new “baby brother”. The adopter related:

It was a Thursday morning in January when I received the phone call from a Placement volunteer for AGR. Loki, a one-year old male Golden Retriever was in need of a new forever home. Immediately following the phone call, I dialed my husband and father who both said yes. I shared the good news with the volunteer, and she put me in touch with a transport volunteer for AGR. Brimming with excitement all day, we couldn’t wait to get home from work and share the exciting news with our 9-year-old daughter. She was thrilled and has been waiting patiently for a few years to get a puppy dog. Everything happened so quickly and just as we were told. The transporter brought Loki to our home that Saturday, January 19th (our gotcha date), and I was so amazed at Loki’s size and beauty. He was full of energy and appeared very happy to be in our home. We felt so very fortunate to be welcoming a happy, house trained and loving Golden into our home. She also brought a kennel for us to borrow for Loki for 3 weeks. Our family has been working with a dog trainer on a weekly basis to help us teach Loki basic commands, door boundaries, and leash training. Loki enjoys going on long runs/walks, playing outside, and exploring our home, as well as opportunities to meet new people and dogs. He has been eyeing our pool and tasting the water but hasn’t ventured in just yet. He has adjusted well to our family routine and we have learned a lot about loving him while setting limits. With some hesitation due to leash pulling, we attended the 66th annual Parada del Sol. To our surprise, Loki did well, and we all had a great time meeting the other Golden Retrievers and their families! This also happened to be our adoption day! We look forward to participating in more AGR events and are so thankful for all that AGR and the volunteers do for the Golden Retrievers and their families in Arizona. Our family feels so blessed to have Loki in our lives. Thank you, AGR!
