About Daisy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 19-031

Daisy, a sweet 7-year old Golden, was left with a pet sitter and abandoned – owner never came back for her and disconnected the phone service. The poor dog was living outside because they have cats and didn’t want to stress them out as they were not sure how Daisy would react since she had been attacked by stray cats in the neighborhood. She was loaded with foxtails, had a matted, dirty coat with a large hotspot on one flank and was limping; radiographs revealed gravel in her intestines. It was no surprise that her valley fever test came back with a relatively high titer of 1:64, so she was started on fluconazole. Over the course of three months, Daisy improved. Her leg was evaluated with a bone biopsy; the vet thought the limp might be caused by disseminated valley fever rather than cancer. He counseled patience and eventually decided that surgery was not warranted. Daisy will most likely have to take fluconazole for the rest of her life – typical of dogs that develop the disseminated form of the disease. Daisy has been adopted, and her adopter reported that Daisy loves to sleep in her crate, has no interest in the cats, eats well, takes her meds without a problem and fit right in. She is the sweetest dog ever! We are glad that Daisy is finally with a family that will never abandon her.
